Heavy rain adds to water woes of Gurgaon residents

Now a new and severe water crisis has hit Gurgaon in the last two days after a damaged pipeline threw the supply system out of gear, leaving many sectors go without water.

Almost all residents are being forced to buy tanker full of water to get on with normal lives.
The damage to pipeline was detected at Iffco Chowk, which was witnessing a spurt in construction activity. Repair work was hampered due to heavy rain, which held up water supplies to Sector 17, DLF Phase 1 and Phase 2. Gurgaon News

Residents here had to purchase water tankers at a stiff price  - the going rate for a tanker was anywhere between Rs 1500 to Rs 2000. Gurgaon Society News

Just imagine the plight of 20,000 families of DLF and 600 families in Sector 17 since Wednesday, with no respite in sight even after three days.
“I paid 2000 for a tanker as there was absolutely no water supply. For two days we had to fend for even drinking water,” said Deepali Sharma a resident of DLF Phase 1. “We have been paying all bills and taxes and this is what we get in return,” she lamented reflecting the sentiments of all the residents.
Already, the residents are grappling with acute power shortage and a general water shortage. And the pipeline damage has only aggravated the crisis.
