AOA members of Mahagun Puram, a society near Mahrauli on NH 24, met Ghaziabad Development Authority and Mahagun Real Estate Private Limited, the builder, to resolve the issue of waste water disposal in their society.
Speaking to City Spidey, AOA members said due to absence of any connection to the city’s drainage system or sewer network, the waste water from the society’s sewage treatment plant is dumped in the nearby open areas. IC Jindal, AOA member of the society, said that since the maintenance of the society is the builder's responsibility, the builder has to pay a monthly charge of Rs 4 lakh to dispose of the waste water. However, the AOA members are worried that once the society has been handed over to them, residents will have to bear the cost. ghaziabad local news
According to an agreement between GDA and Mahagun Real Estate Private limited, the builder has to provide the complete arrangement for disposing of waste water from the society.
GDA officials said they were ready to construct the drainage system if the cost was borne by the builder. The procedure also includes other formalities such as acquiring land, which would amount to a huge amount. While the builder argued that they had already deposited about Rs 10 crore as External Development Charges (EDC), officials of GDA maintained that the cost after deducting the EDC has to be borne by them.
Following the meeting, GDA ordered the bulder to come up with proposals and suggestions to solve the problem in the next 15 days, which will then be discussed in the next joint meeting.
