Residents of Ghaziabad will no longer have to visit electricity office to get an electricity connection. The process to get a new connection is just a missed call away now.
The city’s electricity department has launched a helpline number. A missed call on the number 8652650000, which has been assigned by the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), will be responded to by engineers who will arrive right at the resident’s doorsteps and complete the necessary formalities for the electricity connection. The entire process will take nine days.
SK Gupta, chief engineer, Ghaziabad zone, UPPCL, said that people had to go through much trouble just to get hold of an electricity connection and it also took a lot of time. Residents can now call on 1912, the department’s toll free number, or give a missed call on 8652650000.
The call on the assigned number will be disconnected automatically. It will be followed up with a response call from the call centre and the message will be recorded. Officials will then reach out to the consumer and initiate formalities for the connection.
The service is available from June 1. The numbers will cater to both prepaid and normal connections along with other electricity related complaints.
