The plants in this Dwarka park are now under the care of residents

Green Circle, a Dwarka-based social organisation, carried out a cleaning and tree-planting drive at Park No 7 in Sector 6, behind Diamond Square Apartments and Surya Apartments, over the weekend

Lioness Club adopted a few trees nurtured by Green Circle. “Twenty trees were adopted and 50 trees planted in the park with support from DDA,” said secretary of Green Circle, V Selvarajan.
He added, “We had dug four compost pits last summer to keep dry leaves from being burnt. Unfortunately, the locals are using these pits to throw plastic waste and bottles. We removed all non-biodegradable waste from these pits.” Apartment management software

Lioness Club president Madhu Deewan, who is also a resident of Ashoka Enclave in Sector 11, said, “We have joined the efforts of Green Circle in turning this park green again. We have adopted five trees to begin with, and plan to adopt more in future. These trees are protected with tree guards and regularly watered by members of Green Circle.” Apartment management system
Welcoming all volunteers, IM Khanna, vice-chairman of Green Circle, said, “We are happy to see the children doing this work enthusiastically. Green Circle will distribute certificates of merit to them.”
Anil Parashar, joint secretary of Green Circle, said, “Our aim is to work towards a garbage-free and green Dwarka. This is a small beginning, but certainly a positive step. We had cleaned a park last week too. We have also provided masks and gloves for the volunteers.”

Jaypee flats given at last, after a nine-year wait; but are unfit to live in

For the 200 homebuyers in Jaypee Infratech’s Wish Town and Aman projects, it was a short-lived jubilation of receiving possession letters for their flats, as they discovered the dwelling units they were getting after a wait of nine years were simply unfit to live in.
The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) admitted IDBI Bank’s plea for initiating insolvency proceedings against Jaypee Infratech for defaulting on a Rs 526-crore loan earlier this month. NCLT appointed insolvency professional Anuj Jain as the CEO of Jaypee Infratech. He has been given six months to revive the company.
“I still cannot believe that I have finally received the possession letter from Jaypee. There was a delay of almost five years and we were forced to protest for it. My dream has finally come true. In all these years, we have suffered a lot,” said Ashsih Sharma, a homebuyer.
But their joy is only partial or negligible, as there are no facilities in the five towers for which these offer of possession letters were being handed out.

“There are no facilities in and around the area. The lift is not working, there's no club, no shopping complex and no proper water and electricity supply. People are under tremendous pressure to shift, as they have no choice. With the recent rains, the bushes near the construction sites have grown so much that there are chances that mosquitoes might start breeding,” Vinay Thukral, a homebuyer, said.
The builders are just handing over the houses, and buyers have no choice but to take them.
“The houses are being handed over in this state by the builder to absolve itself of all legal responsibilities and make sure no penalty has to be paid to buyers for late delivery. As there is construction going on, there is no parking facility as well,” said Anup Tripathi, another homebuyer.
Some buyers told City Spidey that they are under immense pressure to take the offer of possession and pay up the remaining 5 per cent that also includes the amount for the area increased and limited common area charges of Rs 1.5 lakh, and go in for registration, as they are unable to pay both rent and EMIs. “We will be given possession letters only after we make the payment for the super area increase and other charges, and get the house registered. Finishing will take at least 15 to 30 days, but we are relieved that we are finally getting our house after a long wait,” said the buyers.
The company and insolvency resolution professional (IRP) were not available for comment.
Last month, Noida Authority had issued occupancy certificates for 650 flats in Jaypee Aman in Sector 151. These ready flats are in towers N-2, N-3, N-4, N-5 and N-6. It also issued an occupancy certificate for 350 ready flats in Kosmos Towers and Klassic Towers located in Wish Town in Sector 128.
On Wednesday, the IRP, through a public notice, informed homebuyers that he would consider buyers’ claims through records provided by Jaypee Infratech. Buyers had also demanded that those buyers who were issued possession letters of ready flats by Jaypee be allowed to shift in and get registry done.

Committee formed by UP CM to meet protesting Amrapali flat buyers

Local MP and Union Minister of Tourism and Culture, Dr Mahesh Sharma, assured protesting Amrapali flat buyers at Noida, Sector 62, that he would try and solve their problem. Many flat buyers are sitting on a protest outside the office premises of Amrapali builders for the past 15 days.
They are demanding from the builder a firm date of handing over of flats, for which they have already paid up. Noida News


On Friday, the local MLA Pankaj Singh also met the Amrapali flat buyers and assured them that he would do something to get their flats.
Dr. Mahesh Sharma told City Spidey that it was the responsibility of central government and state government to ensure that buyers get their flats. “On August 30, a committee formed by the UP CM Yogi Adityanath will meet the flat buyers and chair a meeting with the committee and flat buyers to work out a positive solution,” Sharma said. Hitesh Nakhasi, one of flat buyers who is also protesting, said that they wanted the construction work started; construction was halted by the developer for past two years. “All buyers told Mahesh Sharma that 'we don’t want fake promises from anyone anymore'. Only when we see construction work and financial status of the developer will we be assured. How soon he will finish and when he will hand over flats, we must know. Only then will we end this protest,” he said.
“Otherwise, our protest will continue outside the Amrapali offices,” Nakhasi added.
Buyers of Amrapali flats in various projects in Noida and Greater Noida had gathered to protest. They all claimed that they had paid up 90 per cent of the cost of the flat to the builder. Some of the buyers said they had had to take money from their parents' PF for Amrapali projects. “Now we don’t know how to tell our parents that their money is lost,” one of the protesters said.

Amrapali Zodiac residents want builder removed as electricity bill collector

Residents of Amrapali Zodiac, a residential society in Sector 120, Noida, began a signature campaign against the electricity authorities to protest faulty power supply.

Even after paying electricity bills in advance to the developer, residents of most flats find that their dues to Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd (PVVNL) have not been cleared. The builder charges the residents based on prepaid electric consumption on the meters installed at the housing society.
The residents began collecting signatures of all residents on a letter addressed to PVVNL executive engineer detailing the situation. Already, the campaign has got a good response with quite a few residents in each tower affixing their signatures. noida society news
The residents said in the letter that they had brought the issue of preventing the builder from collecting electric consumption bills when the issue was raised with the city magistrate Mahendra Singh earlier this month. The residents are hopeful that the magistrate will pass an order to evolve a system wherein the residents will pay electricity bills directly to the power company, PVVNL.
Jogindra Singh, a resident, said that the city magistrate had already forwarded a letter given by them to PVVNL for its consideration. Following up on the mater, they have begun the signature campaign to impress upon the officials how serious the issue was. Noida local news

Gurgaon residents face traffic snarls as encroachments eat up roads

A 16-km stretch of the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), which is a crucial link between Faridabad-Gurgaon Road, Golf Course Extension Road and Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, is emerging as a bottleneck for commuters from new Gurgaon sectors.

Residents allege that a major portion of the road has been encroached upon by shop owners, eateries and street vendors. The encroachments have reduced the space available for pedestrians and eaten into the green belt along the road. The result is that there are traffic snarls galore, almost comparable with Iffco Chowk and Rajiv Chowk in terms of congestion at intersections.
“The road has a lot of cars that stop and owners wait to purchase different products from roadside vendors. This adds to chaos on the roads. There is little space for vehicles to move,” said Renuka Arora, a commuter. Gurgaon Society News
Further, the presence of a liquor shop is creating a lot of inconvenience. “There are all kinds of people buying liquor from these shops, and hence ladies and children do not feel safe crossing this stretch.” said Ajay Sharma, a resident of Tulip Ivory, Sector 67.

This Diwali, 4,000 GreNo families to celebrate in their new homes

In the course of a meeting held with developers, officials of the Greater Noida Authority have taken a decision to provide completion certificates to seven real estate projects within a week’s time.

A senior official has shared that Greater Noida Authority’s CEO, Debasish Panda has directed the staff to conduct an inspection of these seven projects within three days and release the completion certificates to the respective developers at the earliest.

Fear of Dera Baba supporters forced Gurgaon to snap internet, power supply

When Dera Sacha Sauda goons ran over Panchkula on Friday, the impact of their actions was felt in Gurgaon, with many areas going without internet and power. Although the civic authorities blamed the storm and heavy rains as the reason for the outages, residents assumed the internet and power were snapped as a precautionary measure to check trouble by Dera followers here.

On the day judgment was pronounced by the CBI court judge, there was no power in Gurgaon from 2.30 pm until 8 pm. The sectors that were hit the hardest were 14, 17, 21, 22, 23, 38, 46 and parts of 50.
“Suddenly at the time of the judgment the electricity went off. We could not send WhatsApp messages. We were under the impression that DHVBN had deliberately switched the power off as a precautionary step. We even tried contacting them but no one responded,” said Neelam Bishnoi, a resident of Sector 14. Neighbourhood News
The day did see strong surface winds accompanied by rain for almost two hours, which felled trees and branches on electricity transmission wires, snapping supply. Traffic, too, was disrupted as traffic signal lights failed to work at major points in the city.
“We don’t run TV on inverters, and hence I could not watch news that day until evening. It was only around 8 pm that we finally had power. I remember distinctly, because we could not fill water tanks, as there was no power. I thought it had been done because of the violence,” said Rajiv Dewan, a resident of Sector 38. We could not take calls, as our staff was busy getting faults at various places rectified. Ghaziabad: MBA student hangs self from a flat in Mahagun Mascot Society

In a rather unfortunate incident, a 23-year-old MBA student of ITS college allegedly committed suicide in a flat in Mahagun Mascot Society in Crossings Republik, Ghaziabad, late yesterday night.

The deceased has been identified as Shivesh Singh, a resident of Gonda, who was living in Flat No. 1814 on the 18th floor of Osimo tower of the society.
Shivesh was found hanging from the balcony grill from a noose made from a bed sheet. Police said his feet were touching the ground when he was found. The flat has three rooms and was occupied by five boys, including Shivesh. Ghaziabad News
His roommate had already left for Delhi in the morning. The other flatmates told the police that Shivesh had locked the room from inside at around 9.30 pm last night.
According to the police, the victim was first seen at the balcony at around 11 pm by a neigbour from the balcony of the neighbouring flat. The neighbour did not suspect anything at the time, but Shivesh was once again seen in the same position at around 3.30 am after the neighbour stepped out to the balcony for some fresh air after going to the bathroom. “It was strange to see a person standing motionless — and in the same position — for over three hours. The neighbour took a closer look and found that the boy had a noose around his neck and was hanging. Although no suicide note was found at the spot, officials maintained that the act could have been the fallout of a bad love affair. However, officials added that prima facie it seemed the deceased was stressed out, and had also consumed alcohol before taking the drastic step.
Speaking to City Spidey, RWA members of the society said the balconies of flats on higher floors are fitted with iron grills for safety reasons. “We were informed about the incident by security guards of the society at around 3.30 am today. The police and the family members were immediately informed,” said Nishant Joshi, an RWA member of the society.
“The body has been sent for post-mortem and the report is awaited. Although the incident looks like a case of suicide but we are investigating the matter,” confirmed Tomar.

Noida Authority conducts anti-encroachment drive in Sectors 74, 75, 76

Noida Authority officials carried out an anti- encroachment drive yesterday in Sectors 74, 75 and 76. The measure was taken in view of the growing complaints from the residents of the area.


This drive was conducted by the encroachment cell of Noida Authority.
Several societies such as Supertech Capetown, Grand Ajnara Heritage and others have been repeatedly complaining to the authorities about the menace of encroachment and the traffic jams on the stretch. Noida News


All makeshift shops on the stretch leading up to the high-rises were demolished. According to officials, about 20 shops were removed.
Shiv Kumar, a hawker who sold vegetables and fruits, lamented, “My source of income is gone due to this encroachment drive. What am I to do now?”


Rakesh Singh, a resident of Grand Ajnara Heritage in Sector 74, said, “We had complained to Noida Authority several times. Finally, it is being done. People coming to these shops would park their vehicles on the road causing jams!”

Are security guards just gatekeepers?

The recent incident at True Friends Apartments in Sector 6 has brought focus back on underpaid and untrained guards.
The guards at True Friends Apartments were not trained to handle armed intruders and they didn’t have any insurance coverage. The story is same for guards across societies in Dwarka. 


President of Ganpati Apartments, Sector 9, and president of FORWAS (Federation of RWAs of Sector 9), Advocate KS Bhati, said, "The guards that societies and DDA pockets hire for security are less paid and untrained. The agencies keep their margin and pay less; the society RWAs or management depend upon the maintenance charges they receive from residents. So guards are there to just maintain the entry-exit register! It’s unfortunate because these guards are even not insured. But the administration does not seem to be serious about these things.” Delhi News
There are no fixed hours for the guards — they do shifts of 12 hours or 8 hours. And sometimes, they do double shifts.
A social activist and a resident of Sector 16B, Ramesh Mumukshu, opined, “You can see guards in their seventies! There’s no age limit — no health check-ups. They continue in this career because they have to survive. But what about security? These are questions that need to be answered.”Delhi Local News
The salary of guards is slightly better in the CGHS societies compared to the DDA pockets. Though that does not impact the quality of service, say RWA members of DDA pockets.
President of Radhika Apartments, a DDA pocket at Sector 14, SS Chowhan, said, "We take only Rs 100, and we have three guards and one caretaker. In CGHS societies, the maintenance charge is over Rs 1,000. But the quality of service is almost the same.”Apartment management software
He further added, "The police and administration, too, have a part to play. Earlier, beat constables would do more frequent rounds of the societies. But things have gone down in the last two-three years. I can show the register to back my claim. "Secretary of Federation of CGHS, Selva Rajan, said, “The recent incident raises questions about the preparedness of security guards in societies.  Most societies depend on security agencies to engage guards at meagre pays. They are neither properly trained nor armed to meet a crisis like the one that happened recently. In fact, they are just gate keepers!  We can’t blame them either.  It's pertinent that they receive some security training.  We wish to organise such workshops jointly with Delhi police.”

Gurgaon: Internet services hit during Ram Rahim rape verdict

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, accused of rape and murder, was pronounced guilty on Thursday. His supporters went on a rampage soon after the verdict was pronounced.

Gurgaon remained peaceful and only the internet services were disrupted between noon and evening hours. However, some places enjoyed usual connectivity.
After the verdict was pronounced, a few institutions were closed down and people left offices early.
“I had to send urgent files and airline tickets to my brother in Mumbai. My Wi-Fi was not working at all and I was helpless,” said Rohit Khanna, a resident of Sector 45. Gurgaon Lcoal News
