Greater Noida West residents demand better roads and safety

Residents of Greater Noida West protested against the local authorities over the poor condition of the roads. Despite complaining to the authorities for several years, the condition of the roads continued to deteriorate, and the residents are now demanding immediate action.

The protest was mainly focused on the following demands:

  • Reconstruction and resurfacing of the roads
  • Widening of the internal roads of Techzone 4
  • Construction of footpaths on both sides of the roads and interlocking tiles to reduce dust
  • Covering of the drain passing near Nirala Estate Service Lane
  • Construction of bus stands at identified locations
  • Foot over a bridge between Nirala Estate and Amrapali Leisure Valley
  • Marking and creating proper vendor zones to address the issue of encroachment

According to Vikash Katiyar, a resident of Greater Noida West, complaints were made to the authorities through various mediums, but no action was taken. "Whenever we talk to the officials of the authority, they only give assurances but no work is done yet. Whereas the government of Uttar Pradesh claims to have mattress-free roads," he said.

Subir Kumar, a resident of Spring Meadows, emphasized the urgent need to resurface and widen the roads to address the pressure of traffic. "Immediate action should be taken on this," he said.
Sagar Gupta, a resident of Techzone 4, pointed out that more than five schools are located in the area, and footpaths are necessary for the safety of all the children walking down to school. "The rainy season is about to come when children have to go to school walking on the road due to water filling on both sides. That's why footpaths should be made on both sides as soon as possible so there is no further accident," he said.
Avneesh Verma, also a resident of Techzone 4, highlighted the increasing problem of encroachment on the roads. He urged the authorities to take strict steps to address the issue and make proper vendor zones to keep the roads free from encroachment.
