Under Noida Authority's drive, the Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Association (NOFAA) planted 52 saplings at Express Zenith, a residential highrise society in Sector 77, Noida on Sunday.
The plantation drive was carried out in the supervision of Noida Authority's ACEO Neha Sharma and NOFAA member Pankaj Singh. Twenty one saplings of Jamun, 10 Neem, 15 Pilkhan, 4 Harshinghar and 2 Arjun were planted at the society during the drive.
Nisha Rai, General Secretary of Zone 2, NOFAA said, “Adding more greenery near highrise societies is like giving more fresh air to people staying there. In fact, the area will become beautiful in next few years. It will also attract birds and insects and help in conserving the ecosystem.”
Devender, General Secretary of Express Zenith said, “More than anything else, tree plantation is a necessity. It is need of the hour amid rising air pollution and global warming. Hence, we planted 52 saplings within the Express Zenith Green Belt. In the last one month, we have planted nearly 200 saplings.”
Indu Prakash Singh, officer on special duty (OSD) and director of Horticulture department, Noida Authority said, “In Noida, there are three Smriti Vatika. Our aim is to plant 3.5 lakh plants till the end of the year. We are focussing on trees like Jamun, Neem, Pilkhan, Arjun etc. We are giving a maximum of two years of ownership to people for taking care of the plants.”
