On June 1, in a series of reviews undertaken by the Chairman, the Health Department of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) was directed to escalate the anti-larval activities and domestic and commercial site inspections for checking of mosquito breeding, even though over the last few months, only two cases of Dengue have been reported yet.
The Municipal Health Officials are doing regular checking drives and challans are being issued. NDMC teams of breeding checkers have so far visited 2,06,496 premises where mosquito breeding was found in 199 premises. These teams also personally inspect the water containers and probable sites of water collection where mosquitoes usually breed.
In such an inspection, out of 3,51,311 water containers which were inspected, a total of 453 were found positive for the larva. Appropriate actions were taken immediately.
Regular cleaning of stormwater drains are also being intensified to avoid any stagnation of water besides desilting of major drains like Kushaknullahh, Hasanpur Tank and STP plants site etc. During the ongoing pandemic, it is imperative to have strict control on mosquito breeding to avoid any other medical emergency in the NDMC area. Engineering chiefs are also reminded to ensure that there remain no breeding points at any site of construction in the NDMC area.
An intensive IEC campaign together with notices and challans to the habitual violators is the key focal points of the drive. Public was made aware through messaging, pamphlets, webinars, video conferences, RWA meetings, audio-visual message displays at the big LED Screens, digital walls and with use of the Public Address System. It was needed to control the vector-borne diseases.
