New coronavirus infections, positivity rate drop significantly in Delhi

 The coronavirus situation has shown signs of improvement in last few days. The new infection count has dropped significantly. The city reported 10,489 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, taking the cumulative tally to 13,72,475.

Delhi reported 13,287 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, 12,481 on Tuesday, 12,651 on Monday, 13,336 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, 17,364 on Saturday and 19,832 on Friday.

The number of new cases reported came out of 73,675 tests conducted on the previous day. At least 58,709 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 14,966 rapid antigen tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate declined to 14.24 from 17.03 per cent on the previous day. The cumulative positivity rate was 7.58 per cent, slightly higher than a day before.

On the other hand, the daily deaths continued be around 300 in the national capital. Delhi reported 308 deaths on Thursday, taking the toll to 20,618. The Capital recorded 300 deaths on Wednesday, 347 on Tuesday, 319 on Monday, 273 on Sunday, 332 on Saturday and 341 on Friday.

A total of 15,189 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 12,74,140 in the national capital. The active cases declined to 77,717 from 82,725 on the previous day.

As far as vaccination drive is concerned, a total of 74,654 people received vaccines in the last 24 hours. A total of 62,168 people received the first dose of the vaccine whereas 12,486 people received their second dose. So far, 42,22,308 persons have received vaccines in the national capital.
