For the fourth day in a row, Delhi reported less than 2,000 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday. Delhi reported 1,491 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 14,21,477.
Delhi reported 1,568 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, 1,550 on Monday, 1,649 on Sunday, 2,260 on Saturday, 3,009 on Friday and 3,231 on Thursday.
The number of new cases reported came out of 77,103 tests conducted on the previous day. At least 53,542 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 23,561 rapid antigen tests were conducted. So far, a total of 1,89,39,206 tests have been conducted in the national capital. The positivity rate declined to 1.93 per cent from 2.14 per cent on the previous day.
On the other hand, the deaths are also gradually dipping in the national capital. Delhi recorded 130 deaths on Wednesday, taking the toll to 23,695. The city reported 156 deaths on Tuesday, 207 on Monday, 189 on Sunday, 182 on Saturday, 252 on Friday and 233 on Thursday.
The number of daily recoveries outnumbered the new cases by a fair margin again on Wednesday. A total of 3,952 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 13,78,634 in the national capital. The recovery rate was 96.98 per cent. The active cases dropped below 20,000. The active cases declined to 19,148 from 21,739 on the previous day.
As far as vaccination drive is concerned, a total of 43,955 people received vaccines in the last 24 hours. A total of 33,434 people received the first dose of the vaccine whereas 10,521 people received their second dose. So far, 51,85,045 persons have received vaccines in the national capital.
Out of the total 25,106 beds in coronavirus hospitals, 17,878 are vacant. The tally of people in home isolation declined to 10,079 in the last 24 hours.
