The auction of players for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is set to take place in Chennai on Thursday. A total of 292 players will go under the hammer. All the eight franchises will look forward to making their squad strong by choosing the best of players like Harbhajan Singh, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and many others.
Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara has also made himself available for the auction. Sachin Tendulkar’s son and left-arm pacer Arjun Tendulkar was also shortlisted in the list of 292 players. The uncapped young player, aged 21, registered himself at the base price of Rs 20 lakh.
The biggest names in the IPL 2021 auction are Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch, Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, and Shakib Al Hasan.
In this edition of IPL, the name of Kings XI Punjab was changed to Punjab Kings. Punjab Kings go to the auction with the biggest purse of Rs 53.20 crore. The management of Rajasthan Royals has released Steve Smith. They have the second-highest purse of Rs 37.85 crore.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had reached the playoffs stage in the last IPL and they are participating in the auction with a purse of Rs 35.4 crore. They have eleven slots available. Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of the most successful teams in IPL history, go ahead with a purse of Rs 19.9 crore in the auction and have six slots available including one overseas player.
Mumbai Indians is the most successful team of IPL. They are winners of the last season. They have Rs 15.35 crore in their purse. Last season finalist Delhi Capitals go with Rs 13.4 crore in their purse and have eight slots available.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have the second-lowest purse in this IPL auction with Rs 10.75 crore and have eight slots available. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have lowest purse in IPL 2021 auction. They go with Rs 10.75 crore in their purse.
