To simplify the process, efforts are on to bring most of the works in the ambit of an online system by the transport department of Delhi. Under this, the works of all the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) will be made online.
The process for online appointment had started earlier. Now, the preparations were started to allow people to get licence renewed, a duplicate licence and registration certificate by sitting in the comforts of their home.
The applicants will not be required to visit the authority frequently for these purposes. The documents will be sent to them at their respective homes. People will only be required to visit the offices for tests done for making licences.
As per the officials of the transport department, all the works of the transport department will be brought under online system. The online system will cover the requests for licence renewal, duplicate registration certificates and address changes.
The system has been devised in such a manner that people would get an option of applying and also uploading documents online. Moreover, all the services like learning licences and driving licences will be provided under online system.
At present, people can submit the forms online and even pay the fees. Applicants are being called to the authorities only after online appointments.
An official said that the process will become more robust after online system. “The new system will take care of the issue of corruption and eliminate the brokers. Help desks will be created at zonal offices to help people in online applications. People can also apply through these help desks,” he said.
