To minimise the usage of plastic, residents of Sector 137, a densely populated area in Noida, recently launched Bartan Bank, an initiative to share crockery with all for community events and individual marriage party. The bank has been set up at Supertech Ecociti, a high rise residential society in Sector 137. The service is available to all without any charge.
An ex-air force officer Cdr Raj Kumar, who is also a resident of Supertech Eco Citi, said, "We are aiming to reduce the excessive usage of plastic through this initiative. People from across the city of Noida may contact us for availing the services of Bartan Bank. They can avail these services free of cost for any community event or individual marriage party.”

Further, he said that the use of plastic in day to day lives of people for social, religious, community functions and private celebrations is increasing. It is used more during religious events. When there is any religious event, water and Prasad are served in plastic glasses and plates. People throw them after use, which makes the surrounding unhygienic.
Cdr Kumar said, "It is our responsibility to avoid the usage of plastic by creating awareness among people. Providing them with alternate solutions like Bartan Bank will help in minimising its usage." ''The bank has been created on the voluntary contribution by individual residents. They also donated steel spoons and glasses to the Bartan Bank'' he informed. gate management system
