Irked with the proposal of steep power tariff hike, the Federation of Apartment Association Sector 61, Noida, has strongly demanded its rollback claiming that it would overburden the residents.
The federation, which is an umbrella body of several high rise residential apartments like Millennium, Royal Garden, Saket Dham, Prateek Fedora and others, on Thursday convened a meeting to discuss the proposed power tariff hike and its impact on commoners' pocket.

RP Singh and Namit Gautam, respectively president and secretary of the federation, were present on the occasion. Ajay Shukla, Sandeep Bhatt, Anusuya Singh and Pramod Maheswari were also there to discuss the issue.
They said that everyone knows that the Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, (PVVNL), failed to install multiple metering system by replacing existing single meter system.
“They could not succeed in this mainly because of high infrastructure cost that would be there to replace the years old patter of measuring electricity consumption,” they said,
“But they are now trying to cheat consumers by imposing hiked tariffs. They argued that if the multiple metering system was implemented, the losses and theft could have been controlled. But they are not doing it as the infrastructure would cost them high,” they added.
Namit said that the federation has decided to oppose the proposal of power tariff hike in the state as they are already paying higher amount for consuming electricity. He said that any further increase in power tariff is going to be overburden residents who are already bearing higher cost of living in city like Noida.
He informed that they have demanded a forensic audit of the department of electricity under the supervision of the Allahabad High court bench before they propose to increase the power tariff. He said that a strict action against incompetent officer should be initiated because of whom the electricity departments is running in losses.
