GreNo West: NEFOWA to launch extensive plantation programme on July 7

In a bid to make the surroundings of the societies full of greenery, the Noida Extension Flat Owners Association (NEFOWA) is all set to launch an extensive plantation programme in Greater Noida West.

As City Spidey was informed, the organisation, with collective efforts of the residents living in all high rises, has set a target to plant as many as 16,000 saplings of different species. These sapling will be planted in and outside the societies.

The first phase of plantation drive to start on July 7 and as many as 700 saplings will be planted in its first phase. The saplings would be of Neem, Gulmohar, Amaltas, Bel, Peepal, Seesham, Kadamb and Pilkhan.

Vikash Kumar, a member of NEFOWA talking to City Spidey claimed that the horticulture department of the Greater Noida Authority too has assured to provide saplings to NEFOWA.

“Authority has assured us to provide saplings but there is no clarity over the number of saplings as yet. However, we have set a target of 16,000 saplings for plantation in all societies in Greater Noida West,” Kumar added.

In the first phase, the saplings would be planted on main roads or service roads. Plantations would be done inside the societies in the second phase. During this campaign, NEFOWA would be allowing the societies to tag their names on the plants. They will also be putting fertilizers in the roots of the plants.

They have divided the area into four zones for this purpose and invited people to be part of the programme.

Kumar also said, “Apart from saplings, the authority has also assured us to provide around 12,500 iron-made tree guards for protection of saplings which will be distributed to all the societies.”

“It would be a long programme of plantation and to be done involving residents of all societies in this area. It is a fact that residents in different societies have also been planting saplings and contributing in making the area green and clean. NEFOWA has planned to bring all residents under one umbrella and do the same with collective efforts,” said Abhishek Kumar, president of NEFOWA.
