A couple of days after it was found that blue Baleno gang had been hiding the stolen vehicle in two gated societies, police has asked residents welfare associations (RWAs) in Noida and Greater Noida to stay cautious against such activities.
In a warning, the police has said that if any lapses are found in society’s security arrangements, RWA president will be held accountable.
The RWAs have been directed to increase security arrangements on their premises and don't allow any random vehicle to be parked in the society.
Warning them, the police said that president of respective RWAs may face arrest if any unknown vehicle is found parked in the society’s parking lot.
The police had arrested three criminals from a blue Baleno gang who were fund hiding stolen cars in the parking lots of a gated society. According to police, the accused confessed that they were keeping two stolen vehicles – a blue Baleno and a grey i10 – inside the parking lot of a super MIG flats (apartments) in sector 93. They had parked their other vehicle (a red Santro) in the parking lot of Kendriya Vihar, a residential society in sector 83.
According to the police, the accused used to go to these societies in their other cars and leave with stolen cars to carry out more robberies. After robberies, they would again go to the society parking lot to hide the vehicles.
Vaibhav Krishna, SSP, Gautam Buddh Nagar, said, “RWAs should increase checking of vehicles at their entry gate. If such unknown vehicles are found parked in the society, RWAs will have to face inquiry and their president can be sent to jail.”
Meanwhile, RWAs across the city alleged that the police is just trying to shift the blame by this move. NP Singh, president of the federation of Noida's RWAs, said, “It is the duty of police to provide safety to the residents. How can the president be held accountable? They should increase patrolling and should promptly react to the complaints raised by RWA regarding unknown vehicles.”
