In order to ensure robust traffic system in the city, the traffic police has tied up with transport department to send notices along with challans to violators.
The violators will be required to furnish the details of their driving licences for violations such as red light jumping and overspeeding. If they fail to do so then cases will be registered against the owners of the vehicles.
Under the e-challan process, the data of more than seven thousand violators, who had either jumped red light on more than one occasion or violated the speed limits, has already been sent to the transport department.
It has been recommended to suspend the driving licences of these violators for more than 3 months. But, as of now, the number of suspensions have not reached even hundred-mark.
SP Traffic, Anil Kumar Jha had met with the officials of the transport department on Wednesday. “It was decided that the notices of transport department will now be attached with the challans which will be sent on the vehicle owner’s addresses,” Jha said.
The violators will be required to give details of the driving licences after paying for the challans.
