To contribute to the upkeep of their locality, a few residents of Ahinsa Khand II (AK II), Indirapuram, took out a cleanliness drive on early Saturday morning.
The drive started at 7 am from Niho Scottish Garden and was taken till Shanti Gopal Hospital, a stretch of more than a kilometer. It went on till 10 am. However, the organisers of the campaign were left disappointed as the turnout was dismal.
Besides, cleaning the roads and boundary walls on their own, the residents also assisted the sanitation staff assigned by Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).
The residents also caught a few overloaded trolleys that were carrying excavated mud uncovered and did not even have a license plate. "We made them cover the load and warned them to not repeat this from next time," told Surabhi Gupta, vice president of Bharat Residency, a high-rise in AK II.
However, despite giving prior information and repeated reminders, the turnout was hugely low. “Barely seven to eight people came for this cause,” informed Gupta.
