Dwarka: Sec 7 residents resort to open garbage dumping; demand dedicated space

Residents of Sector 7 societies are facing a tough time these days. Reason? They are forced to dump garbage on the road near Meghadoot Apartments.

People said they are compelled to do because there is no dedicated space to dump daily waste. They added saying the corporation does not seem to clear the area and as a result, heaps of garbage on the road are causing a foul smell and making the area look filthy and unhygienic. Dwarka News

Secretary of Media Apartments, PP Wangchuk said the problem has increased in the last one week.

He said, “We are forced to inhale foul smell due to this. We have told the area councillor and the MLA several times about the nuisance caused by poor management of waste in the area but they do not seem to take this matter seriously at all! We are now following up the subject with the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) officials and they have assured us with a solution soon.”

Residents of the area allege the SDMC has been callous as far as the sanitation aspect is concerned. They shared that earlier the garbage was dumped in a dhalao there but due to some problem, it was demolished and now there is no place to dump garbage.

Anil Nayal, a resident of Arunoday Apartments (DDA Pocket) and a member of Dwarka Forum said, “There must be a dedicated space to dump garbage. Until then, the SDMC should properly manage the waste on a daily basis.”
