Noida: Woman duped of Rs 65,000 on pretext of helping Pulwama martyrs’ families


A woman was duped of Rs 65,000 by a man in Noida on the pretext of making a donation for the families of soldiers martyred in Pulwama attack. The victim filed a police complaint on Thursday.

According to police, the victim, identified as Arti Kandpal, lives in a rented accommodation in Sector 22. She works in a private firm in Sector 63 and is originally from Uttarakhand. Noida News

In her complaint, Arti said that she had received a phone call from a person who introduced himself as Mohit. The accused told her that he was collecting money for the families of martyred soldiers in Pulwama attack along with some more people. He asked Arti to donate funds for the good cause. Arti agreed to donate Rs 2,000.

“After this, Mohit asked Arti to share information about debit card and account details. He even asked her to share the OTP (One Time Password) received from the bank,” the complaint states.

“As soon as she shared the details, Arti received two messages suggesting that a withdrawal of Rs 65,000 was done from her account,” she states in her complaint. Apartment Management Software

Mithilesh Upadhaya, SHO of Sector 24 Police Station said that on the basis of the complaint received from the victim, they have lodged an FIR under IT act. The complaint will be referred to cyber cell for further investigation.
