The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials on Saturday arrested a 28-year-old man for carrying a country-made pistol inside a metro station on the Blue line stretch of the Delhi Metro. Noida News
According to police, the accused, identified as Ankit Kumar Singh, was held when the firearm was detected in his bag during its scanning at the Noida Sector 15 metro station. He is a resident of Delhi’s Palam village.
During the interrogation, Singh told officials that he is a final year student of engineering from Roorkee, Uttarakhand.
He further said that he had returned from a wedding in Saharanpur and wanted to board the metro to reach Palam, where he had to attend another wedding. However, the purpose of carrying a pistol was not clear.
"His claims about his age and other details are being verified," said Rajveer Singh Chauhan, in-charge of Sector 20 police station, where the case has been lodged.
"He has been arrested under the Arms Act and would be produced in a court," Chauhan added.
