Irked over delayed possession of their 'dream home', a group of home buyers from Mascot Neotown, located in Greater Noida West, staged a protest outside the residential project on Sunday afternoon.
The protest, staged against the non-completion of the project, was held under the banner of Noida Extension Flat Owner’s Main Association (NEFOMA). The home buyers alleged that even after a long wait of six years, the builder is yet to hand over the keys of their flats. Besides, the construction work at the site has been stalled since last two years.
When City Spidey spoke to Anu Khan, founder of NEFOMA, and tried to understand the present scenario, she said, “The situation is yet the same despite several assurances and announcements made by the builder. He has been extending deadlines and whenever we raise this issue, he gives an excuse citing fund crunch. We doubt the builder might have diverted our money to some other businesses or projects of his own. Well, it is us, the buyers, who have to bear the dual burden of paying rent and EMIs.”
According to the home buyers, the project was launched in the year 2012 and its completion was scheduled for 2014. There are around 700 units in the project, out of which, 400 have already been sold out.
