Ghaziabad police nabs accused for robbing woman in Vasundhara


Ghaziabad police has nabbed a history sheeter accused for robbing Rs 50,000 from a woman on Friday night. Police said that the accused was arrested around 11.30 pm near the Vaishali cut in Indirapuram.

“He was trying to run away after spotting the police. However, his bike got unbalanced and slipped on the road. That is when we nabbed him,” said Sub Inspector Anjani Kumar Singh.

Just two days ago, the criminal along with his partner had allegedly robbed a purse containing Rs 50,000 cash, mobile and government identification cards like Aadhaar and PAN card from a woman.

The victim, Smita Kaul, a resident of Arunima Palace, a high-rise in Vasundhara was robbed at Parsuram chowk, just 30 meters away from her bank in Vasundhara where she had come to withdraw money from her account. Ghaziabad News

Kaul was looking for a transport at the chowk when two bike-borne assailants snatched her purse and ran away.

Meanwhile, police have recovered Rs 21,000, three mobile phones and a knife from the accused. The accused has been identified as Rahul Gautam, a resident of East Vinod Nagar near Kalyanpuri in New Delhi.

Police also said that the accused has been jailed in the past for incidents related to loot and burglary in Indirapuram. Police is collecting further details about the criminal history of the accused.
