Good news for people of Dwarka this New Year! Two parks in Sector 11 and 17 will be converted into model parks. Suggestions from residents would be invited to develop facilities in both the parks. According to officials, the parks are likely to be finished within two months.
An official, who didn’t want to be named, said, “Apart from maintenance and basic beautification, there will be recreational facilities, theme-based gardening and other features. DDA officials will work in sync with the RWA to make the project a success.”
DDA officials claim 12 big parks in Delhi have been selected to be developed as model parks — two are in Dwarka. Parks have been classified into two groups —those within 5-10 acres and those within 10-50 acres.
After the pilot run, the DDA will take up other parks too.
According to DDA vice-chairman, Tarun Kapoor, the officials responsible for developing the best model park would be awarded to develop the competitive spirit.
RWAs of the sectors have welcomed the move.
Dwarka has a few big district parks, but no model park as such.
RWA president of Gangotri Apartments in Sector 12, Umesh Kala, opined, “Involving the RWAs is really a welcome move. It would help the officials in understanding the area, and what it needs.”
To this, vice-president of New Millennium Apartments in Sector 23, MS Suri, said, “This decision of DDA is appreciable. I am happy Dwarka will have two model parks.”
