The representatives of about 20 RWAs and managements of various societies in Sector 13 raised the issue of crime and traffic problem in an interactive session with ACP Dwarka, Rajender Singh and his team at Delhi Journalists Association (DJA) Apartments on Sunday.
More than hundred people from surrounding societies were present on the occasion.
People said that the vacant plots and parks around the societies like DJA Apartments and Gulistan Apartments became a nuisance due to drug addicts.
Residents of Gulistan Apartments made ACP aware that drug addicts often make attempts to access the society from the side of the park at night. They said that people and guards caught a person who jumped inside the society before Diwali.
Ex-president of DJA Apartments JK Sharma and president of Metro View Apartments, Vinod Rawat raised the issue of traffic at the chowk of Sector 13/14 and 12/13. Both requested to look into the problems created by vehicles entering in service lane violating the rules.
Treasurer of Ayush Vihar Apartments, Kamesh Gautam asked police to look into the subject of racket of women involved in prostitution and also snatching incidents. He emphasised that those women were mostly using the dark patch of service lane near his society.
Nuisance due to e-rickshaw and speedy vehicles in the service lanes were also raised by the residents. They asked the police to take action and carry drives in Sector 13.
After listening to all the issues, ACP Rajender Singh said that action against all the raised issues will be evident from Monday. He directed the concerned SHO, Sanjay Kundu to be present to take proper action from Sunday itself.
To curb the soft crime and stop the misuse of parks and vacant plots by drug addicts and miscreants, ACP suggested RWAs to get associated with Prahari scheme of Delhi police which has almost stopped the open drinking or misuse of parks near societies. He said that police would also train the guards and take them to patrolling in those areas near societies which are in vacant and abandoned state.
General Secretary of Delhi Journalist Association Suparna Guha said that they would keep follow-up with the police on the subjects discussed in the meeting so that a periodic review could be done.
