NPCL officials inspect Panchsheel Greens for individual power connections

The officials of National Power Company Limited (NPCL) on Tuesday inspected the Panchsheel Greens society for conversion of power connection to individual power connections.

This inspection comes after the state government order to allow multipoint connections to people living in multi-storeyed buildings. The residents are expected to be benefitted with the multipoint connections. Greater Noida News

In the present arrangement, the builders take connections on their name and distribute electricity to individual flats. The builders charge hefty tariffs to the individual flats. The residents were complaining about the current arrangement for a long time.

More than 10 lakh people residing in Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida are expected to be benefitted by this move.

As per the guidelines, the new flat buyers will instantly get the individual connections whereas the people who are already living in their flats will be needed to convert their connection to single point connection before March 31, 2019.

An official of NPCL, Tarun Chauhan informed that feasibility is ok at Panchsheel Greens. “Now, we will be sending a detailed report of the necessary requirements for conversion of power connections to the builder. The NPCL will ask the builder to complete the necessary works through a notice.”

“The builder will be sending the budget to complete work to the NPCL. After NPCL’s approval, the builder will collect money from each buyer in the ratio of per kilowatt consumption,” he added.

Chauhan also informed that the NPCL is also mulling on the option of continuing with single point connections on the basis of feedback from the flat owners. “For this, more than 50 per cent of the flat buyers should agree on single point connections,” he said.

A resident of Panchsheel Greens, Vikas Kumar said that the officials made the list of changes in the power connection. “They want two separate power wires - one for DG sets and one for direct power supply from NPCL,” he added.

“We will decide whether we are going ahead with the multipoint connections or not only after knowing the budget from the builder,” he added.

At present, the consumers in Gautam Budh Nagar pay Rs 6.10 per unit with an additional 11 per cent regulatory charge and 5 per cent as fix charge to the builders. Residents feel there will be a hike in the maintenance charge as well which is at present Rs 2.25 per sq feet in almost every society.
