Noida Authority imposes penalty on people urinating in open

The health department of Noida Authority on Wednesday imposed a penalty on ten persons for urinating and defecating in the open areas.

The officials carried out inspections at sectors 125, 27, 37 and several other places.

On November 30, the Authority had decided to impose penalties of Rs 100 and Rs 200 on persons who will be found urinating and defecating in open.

The deputy general manager of the health department, SK Gupta said, “We penalised ten persons for urinating and defecating in the open areas. They were penalised Rs 100 each.”

“The Authority had made 82 public toilets at several places. But, people are not using it and urinating at the public places. They have also damaged many walls in the city,” Gupta added.

On Tuesday, the Authority fined 17 people in sectors 18, 43, 53, 62 and Mamura village. A total of Rs 2,200 was collected as penalty for urinating and defecating in the open.

As per the members of Adarsh Sewa Samiti, an NGO working on sensitising people against open defecation, the Authority is going to face challenges from migrant labourers and increasing population of the city.
