The service lane in Dwarka’s Sector 12, which was cut off from the main road by DDA officials by placing barricades, has become a main reason for the traffic chaos in the area.
This is one of the main lanes used by commuters to access markets in Sectors 12 and 5 and also the nearby residential societies. However, because of the barricades these lanes have become an easy place for traffic offenders to drive on the wrong side and even park their vehicles haphazardly, leading to utter chaos.
P Menon, treasurer of Dwarka Forum and a resident of Ashirvad Apartments in Sector 12, had recently complained about the issue to the civic authority. “Because of the blocked service lane near Dwarkadheesh Temple in Sector-12, the residents of Ashoka Apartments, Upkari Apartments and Brindawan Garden in Sectror-12 are not able to directly access the market. It is a matter of concern as the market also houses one of the most famous hospitals in the sub city, Ayushman Hospital. This is also forcing people to drive in the wrong lane,” he said.
It’s a similar scene near DDA SFS Apartments in Sector 5 as the service lane is blocked here also. According to locals, the lane was blocked by DDA on the suggestions of RWAs of societies nearby, but it has now become a problem for people living in Sector 12 and 5.
Sanjay Verma, a resident of Sector 5, said, “The service lane was blocked about six years ago but now it should be opened again.”
Speaking to City Spidey on the subject, traffic inspector of the area, Rajender Singh, said he would try to resolve the matter soon.
