In a tragic incident, a 28-year-old man was found dead, barely 200 meters away from the police post in Crossings Republik in the wee hours on Friday. Police found the body inside the tall bushes of a muddy path going towards Dundahera Village, adjacent to the township.
According to police, the body bore a gunshot wound between the eyebrows on the forehead. Besides, they have recovered a country-made pistol. By looking at the injury, it appears the deceased was shot at point-blank range, police added. Indirapuram News
When City Spidey asked SP (City, Ghaziabad) Shlok Kumar about the details of the deceased and the incident, he said, ”The deceased has been identified as Ashwini, son of Balkishan and resident of Chipiyana Buzurg, a village in the proximity of Crossings. He was working as a property dealer in the Crossings.”
“A few people who went for a morning walk spotted the body and informed us around 5:30 am,” added Kumar.
Shlok Kumar told City Spidey that last night, Ashwini in an inebriated state, called his friend Kishan and said to him that “this is our last conversation, record it as I’m going to die.” “Earlier, Kishan took it lightly, considering it as a joke as Ashwini sounded heavily drunk, but later, called one of the relatives of Ashwini who is a Sub-Inspector working with Delhi Police,” Kumar further said.
Following the incident, a team of the forensic lab also arrived on the spot. It is tracing the residue of gunpowder on the hands of the deceased, and the firearm found near his body to ascertain the cause of death.
“Prima facie, the case appears of a suicide,” said SSP, Ghaziabad, Upendra Kumar Agrawal.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem.
Residents of the Crossings Republik opined that such an incident taking place in the proximity of a police post poses a grim situation of law and order in the area. Just a few days ago, two bike-borne assailants snatched a gold chain from an elderly woman in broad daylight.
