Authority misses deadline to finish road connecting Noida to GreNo West

The residents of Greater Noida West will have to wait a little more to get their planned road connecting their sectors to Noida as the authority has missed the deadline.

The project, which was supposed to be finished by December this year by the Noida Authority, still has a long way to go as only 45 percent work has been done so far. The authority has now set a deadline for March 31, 2019.

Started about one-and-a-half years back, the road will give a direct connection to the the residents of Greater Noida heading towards Noida, who right now have to take a long route via Gaur City-Kishan Chowk. The road will also help the commuters traveling between Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad.

The new route will provide a direct link between the Hindon bridge and Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) expressway in the vicinity.

Bhupesh Kumar, a resident of Steller Jeevan in Greater Noida West, said, “Right now to travel to Noida, we first need to go to Gaur City and then Kishan Chowk. Often, we have to navigate through traffic chaos at Kishan Chowk round about and red light.”

As per official estimates, the 900-metres long stretch has been delayed because of land acquisition issues. Though the officials in Noida Authority say that the issue has been resolved and the work will soon be completed.

According to the engineers of Noida Authority and the project manager, only work on a minor patch of the road is left.

“The project has been delayed because of land acquisition trouble. We are in the last stage of finishing the work and most probably it would be operational by March 31,” said ML Rawat, project engineer, Noida Authority.

The road, once built, will connect Greater Noida’s Sectors 1, 4, and 16A with Noida near Sectors 73, 74, 77, 78, 79, 84, 121, and 122. Once operational, lakhs of commuters who travel daily between Noida and Greater Noida will be relieved as their travel time will be cut by half and the distance that they travel would be reduced by 7-8 km.
