Noida's first waste treatment plant to start operations from December

Noida’s first remediation plant in Sector 54 will become operational from the first week of December. The plant — operated by Tamil Nadu-based Zigma Global Environ Solutions — is currently on a trial run.   Noida News

Waste remediation is a process in which contaminants from garbage are removed or neutralised, so they can’t cause any harm to the land and adjoining areas.

Speaking to City Spidey, Rajesh Kumar Singh, OSD, Noida Authority, said, “For the first phase, a remediation plant has been installed at Sector 54 site. The plant will stabilise and convert the waste into windrows (triangular-shaped heaps). These will be fed into the plant to be separated into soil, stone, brick, and produce refuse-derived fuel (RDF).”

In July 2018, Noida Authority signed an MoU for segregation, treatment and recycling of waste through remediation plants.

The remediation process takes place in several stages. First, bio-culture is spread on the waste to stabilise it and convert the same into windrows. The process ensures there’s no smell and flies on the waste, and, at the same time, reduces moisture and eliminates pathogens.
