Dwarka: Uttarakhand’s 18th foundation day celebrated with full fervour

People belonging to the Uttarakhand community on Sunday celebrated the 18th foundation day of the state in Dwarka, showing its cultural richness and paying tribute to the people who sacrificed their lives during Uttarakhand movement.

It was an evening full of cultural and traditional fervour of Uttarakhand at Sector 14’s Radhika Apartment. Community people in traditional attire were present on the occasion to celebrate it under the aegis of Uttarakhand Sanskriti Manch (USM).

Folk songs were sung and dance styles like Bangar, Jhora, Barda nati, Chhapeli etc were performed by women of this community. Children too expressed their artistic skills to display the rich culture of Uttarakhand.

Eminent personalities of the state from various fields were also present on the occasion. They shared their views about the occasion and appreciated people’s effort to make the next generation aware of their own culture and tradition.

President of Uttarakhand Sanskriti Manch, S S Chowhan said, "We started celebrating this occasion three years back and we did it on the Foundation Day, 9th of November. But because people were busy with other festivals, we shifted it to this weekend this year. This was a small effort in which people belonging to the state from Sector 13, 14, 16 and 17 participated in good numbers. We are happy to see the response shown by the people of this community.”
