Preparations for smooth traffic towards Noida-Delhi Yamuna Bridge starts

As the 6-lane Noida-Delhi Yamuna Bridge will be open to the public in December, the traffic police have started finding out ways to decongest Kalindi Kunj red light. They have reminded the Noida Authority that it is important to have smooth traffic movement at the red light.

The Authority needs to construct an approach road towards Sarita Vihar and an underpass towards Jaitpur village linking the bridge with the two areas of Delhi. As the area involves coordination between two states, the project needs approval from UTTIPEC.

An official of the Noida Authority said that they had a meeting with the Delhi government officials over the project last week. He added that there was no headway in the plan as there was a lack of cooperation from the Delhi government. Noida News

“But, we are hoping that the issue will be sorted by both the parties and the project will end soon,” the official said.

The bridge will ease traffic congestion on the stretch linking Delhi and Noida. It will provide additional connectivity between the two cities. At present, Kalindi Kunj Bridge sees traffic snarls on a daily basis. The situation turned from bad to worse during peak hours.

The Authority had started work on this bridge at a cost of Rs 120 crore in August 2014. While the bridge was scheduled to be ready by August 2016, the work was delayed due to funding issues.

NKG, a private agency, had got the contract to build this project. The idea of the bridge was conceived around 2012 but it couldn’t materialise due to the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in the same year.
