GB Nagar sends proposal to govt over notification of land for Jewar Airport


The district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar on Wednesday sent a proposal to state government over notification of 1,334 hectare land for Jewar International Airport project.

The district magistrate, BN Singh informed that the state government has already given consent to the SIA report. He added that 72 per cent of the landowners have also agreed for acquisitions.

There are 5,905 families in six villages whose lands come in the purview of the Jewar Airport project.

The administration is waiting for the notification under Section 11 of The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

Before the acquisition process, a 60-day window period will be allotted for farmers comment. The state government will release Rs 1,500 crore for the disbursement of compensation for families affected by the land acquisitions.

Just near Jewar Airport, the Yamuna Authority is working towards developing residential sectors. Plots have been allocated to the builders to develop high-rise societies.

The DM informed that there will be a small city around the Jewar Airport. Many people have also shown interest in investing their money in the residential sectors.
