Farmers’ protest march to cause traffic snarls in East Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad


Delhi traffic police has imposed a week long prohibitory order in East Delhi. The Delhi traffic police has also issued an advisory asking motorists to avoid the Meerut Expressway. Motorists arriving from Ghaziabad and vice-versa were advised to commute through Kondli village and Anand Vihar.

“Traffic is affected on NH-9, Ghazipur Border & UP Gate due to Kisan Movement from UP Gaziabad Side. Motorists coming from Ghaziabad side and vice-versa are advised to use Kondli Bridge or Road no. 56/Anand Vihar” Delhi traffic police tweeted.

On Monday, Delhi-Meerut road and many other connecting roads from Uttar Pradesh border to Delhi were chocked as thousands of farmers arrived in tractor-trolleyes, cars and two-wheelers. They were heading towards Delhi. Commuters on Ghazipur -Noida border (Meerut expressway) and NH-24 faced tough times and got stuck for several hours on road.

As per the Delhi traffic police, traffic in many areas in East Delhi likely to be affected for next two-three days. Delhi traffic police has warned that areas such as Preet Vihar, Jagatpuri, Shakarpur, Madhu Vihar, Ghazipur, Mayur Vihar (Delhi-Noida link road), Kalyanpuri, New Ashok Nagar will face traffic snarls specially during the peak hours.
