A pregnant lady along with another lady and two children suffered a fall in the lift from the first floor to the basement at Supertech Ecovillage-3 in Noida Extension on Friday. However, they escaped any injuries and were rescued safely from the lift afterwards.
The husband of a lady, Mrityunjay Kumar Jha, told City Spidey that people are facing the lift problem for a long time. His wife and children got stuck in the lift for 15 minutes. news
“They were calling on the emergency number but the security guards were busy on the other calls. Due to which, the process of rescue started very late,” Jha said.
There are more than 350 families living in 5 towers of the building. The builder will construct 15 towers where there will be more than 1,100 flats.
Jha added, “The tower has two lifts. One of them always has some problem. Residents have suffered a lot due to this.”
The estate manager of the society, Mushrat Liaq said, “The lift fell down due to the power cut and it didn’t fall freely. During the power cut, the lifts normally go down to the lowest floor and open normally.”
“After five minutes, everyone was outside the lift and we have the CCTV footage of the incident,” Liaq added.
The residents of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad are demanding a lift act which will help the administration in ensuring the proper installation, operation and maintenance of lifts in buildings.
There are more than two thousands of high rise buildings in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The residents getting stuck in the lift has become an everyday affair in the societies. No one takes the responsibility for the causalities happening in the lift.
