Gurgaon residents battle sudden onslaught of heat and humidity

Gurgaon woke up to a hot and humid Tuesday morning as the maximum temperature touched 35 degrees Celsius, ending the pleasant spell the city was experiencing until last week.

According to the forecast from Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature will touch 37 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday, three degrees above the normal temperature. Clear skies are predicted for the week.

The minimum temperature for the week would stay between 24 and 25 degrees Celsius.

This week, the normal temperature during the day will be around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 24.8 degrees Celsius, explained an IMD spokesperson. There is also a possibility of rain or thundershower next Monday, which could bring down the daytime temperature to 33 degrees Celsius. gurgaon news

Meanwhile, the residents are not at all happy with the sudden onslaught of heat. “The afternoons have suddenly become very hot. I go to pick up my kids from school around 2.30 pm and we all come back sweaty,” said Anshu Bhatia, a resident of DLF Phase V.

After a continuous spell of showers in the first week of September, Gurgaon’s weather had turned pleasant. “We had to face waterlogging and traffic jams, but the weather was so pleasant that no one was complaining,” said Rashi Singhal, a resident of Nirvana Country.

Till September 10, the maximum temperature was around 31 degrees Celsius and the minimum at around 24 degrees Celsius.

However, the doctors in the city say the sudden change of weather has been accompanied by a rise in cases of viral fever. Over the past four days, Civil Hospital in Civil Lines has reported a 25% rise in the number of viral cases. Private hospitals have also seen 30% spike in viral cases.
