Gurgaon: Most of the suspected dengue cases reported from upscale DLF Phase-1, 2

Most number of suspected dengue haemorrhagic fever cases has been reported from the areas such as DLF Phase-1 and Phase-2 in Gurgaon.

As per the data of the district health department and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram(MCG), there were 253 suspected cases reported from the district. A total of 32 cases were reported from DLF Phase-1 and Phase-2. Gurgaon News

7 cases have been reported from Sushant Lok 1. 3 suspected cases have surfaced from DLF Phase-3 and South City 1 in Sector 41.

However, there were 21 confirmed cases of dengue reported in the district. Out of the 21 cases, 2 were reported from DLF Phase-2. One each was seen in DLF Phase-1 and Phase-3.

The first confirmed case of dengue cropped up on July 19 from DLF Phase-5.

The state health department has issued a directive to every private hospital or clinic to inform the department about the suspected cases of dengue in the district. They were asked to carry out the blood test as well.

The cases of dengue are confirmed through the blood test. There are many false cases of dengue as well. The common symptoms of the disease, such as high fever, body ache and low platelet count do not always confirm dengue.

As per the opinions of doctors, places with high density of population, cool and humid environment are most vulnerable to disease such as dengue.

Gulshan Rai Arora, civil surgeon, Gurugram, said that the Aedes aegypti mosquito — which causes both dengue and chikungunya — thrives in fresh, stagnant water.

“People leave water in containers, coolers, flower pots, which provide the perfect ground for breeding of mosquitoes,” he said, adding that people in these localities should take proper care to keep their surroundings clean.

“Last year, the trend was a bit different. Most cases were reported from areas near the railway lines such as Ashok Vihar and Palam Vihar,” said Dr Asruddin, chief medical officer, MCG, which is often found in abundance in such colonies.

As per the officials of health department, many show-cause notices have been sent to societies where mosquito breeding sites were found.

The district malaria officer, Dr Pradeep Kumar said, “940 notices have already been sent to the societies. 300 notices have been sent to upscale apartments.”
