Despite the show-cause notice by the district town planning (DTP) enforcement, Gurugram, to Omaxe Mall over diversion of public utility spaces for other uses, encroachments continue to bother visitors and shopkeepers.
On Monday, the shopkeepers had reminded DTP enforcement over the encroachments. They had filed a complaint in May. Gurugram News
The shopkeepers had also complained in the local court earlier. In August, the court had directed the DTP enforcement to take action in this regard.
Following which, a team of DTP enforcement carried out an inspection on August 11. They found many violations at the mall’s premises and sent show-cause notices to the mall’s management on August 15.
They sought compliance within 7 days. But, there was no improvement in the encroachments at the mall. Few shopkeepers continued to use the public utility spaces like stairs, lift area etc. for personal uses.
“DTP officials mentioned violations in the show cause notice but it is highly surprising that the encroachments are not yet removed,” said another shop owner wishing anonymity.
Omaxe Mall is located on the Sohna Road. It has ground plus four floors with three basements. People in the area use the mall as one of their prime shopping destinations. The responsibility for maintenance of the mall still lies with the developer.
“Mall management has replied to the show cause notice of DTP enforcement,” said a senior executive of Omaxe mall.
DTP enforcement Ved Prakash Sehrawat said that they will sort out the issue soon. He confirmed that they will also carry out the drive against other malls where such kinds of encroachments are rampant.
