Sunday evening at Green Heaven Apartments in Sector 4, Dwarka, saw musical talents from the community take centrestage. Community-based Dwarka Kala Sargam organised the event, which was themed on the songs of famed music director Shankar Jaikishan.
The evening started at around 7pm and continued till 9.30 pm.
The audience was kept regaled with both solo and duet tracks, and quite a few were sung by senior citizens.
One of the singers and a resident of Jagran Apartments in Sector 22, Pramila Malik, said, “We are not trained singers, but we sing because we enjoy it. These evenings are memorable for us — and we never miss them.”
Another performer Ritu Dogra shared, “Singing makes me feel good. I always practise for such evenings. It’s a great opportunity for us to bond over music.”
Dwarka Kala Sargam is a community-based eclectic group of singers, including housewives, senior citizens, college goers.
Shashi Jain, who is the secretary of Dwarka Kala Sargam, and a resident of Mass Apartments in Sector 10, anchored the programme.
She said, “We all are singers out of hobby and enjoy songs that remind us of our days. Our group has people who either have a musical background or sing well. So, it's an effort to remember the yesteryears.”
