GDA clears out encroachment from the market around Jaipuria Sunrise Greens

The GDA conducted an anti-encroachment drive in Indirapuram yesterday. The drive took place in the evening around the market area of Jaipuria Sunrise Greens in Ahinsa Khand I.

AK Singh, executive engineer of GDA, said, “We received several complaints about these vendors. Not only were passers-by finding it difficult to walk, but there were frequent traffic jams on the road, as people parked their vehicles anywhere they wanted to purchase stuff from these kiosks.” Indirapuram News

Small eateries were also targeted as they posed the threat of fire.

When asked whether the vendors were served a notice prior to the drive, Singh said in case of such drives, notice is never served. Ghaziabad News

City Spidey spoke to a few vendors about the drive.

Most admitted that their shops were illegal, but in the absence of vending zones where would they go. “We have no choice but to run our business illegally as the administration has not provided us any space for setting up shops,” said Ganesh, the owner of a momo stall.

When City Spidey inquired about the vending zones, Singh said the GDA is chalking out a plan to create four-five vending spots in Indirapuram. However, he didn’t specify the areas.
