Planting drives, games, plays... Dwarka turns festive on I-Day

Dwarka celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with great enthusiasm. Cooperative Group Housing Societies, DDA Pockets, social organisations and institutions organised various activities to create a sense of community feeling. In many societies important public figures were invited to hoist the national flag. In others, senior citizens were honoured with the task. Dwarka News

Apart from flag-hoisting, societies organised various cultural programmes that involved children of all age groups.

In some societies, tree-planting drives were carried out.

Here's what people had to say:

President of Brahma Apartments, Sector 7, Indra Mani Mishra, said, “We want the next generation to feel the importance of freedom. It is our duty to make them understand -- shape their thoughts, and thus, the Nation.”

RWA President of Sri Vinayak Apartments, Sector 10, Rakesh Kalsi, stressed, "We must know our Constitutional duties. We have to establish the values given in the Indian Constitution. As we know our rights, we must also know our duties.”

Social activist Namita Chaudhury, a resident of Heritage Tower in Sector 3, said, “In our society, children performed with great enthusiasm. Looking at them, we, sort of, understood our drawbacks -- how our generation has become more and more self-centred. It's important that we inculcate good values in them at an early stage -- they are our Nation.”
