“They knocked the door but he did not respond, following which they went to their respective rooms and fell asleep. On Tuesday morning, they once again knocked on his door. When he did not respond, they became suspicious. They alerted the security guards, who broke open the gate and found him hanging from the ceiling fan with the help of a bedsheet,” Vikas Kaushik, inspector, Sector 53 police station said.

The police said that the security supervisor had informed them about the suicide. After that, a team including the station house officer (SHO) reached the spot.

The police also said that it looked like a suicide case prima facie but as there was no suicide note, they will continue with the probe. They added that his mobile phone and laptop were found to be locked.

“We are interacting with Priyadarshi’s roommates, and have also seized his laptop and mobile phone for clues. The parents might also share some details which would give some clarity regarding the suicide,” Kaushik said.

The family of the victim has been informed about the incident. His elder brother is working with a bank and is posted in Aligarh.

The police have sent the body for post-mortem which will happen on Wednesday.
