The residents of Sector-27 are planning to meet Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) commissioner, Yashpal Yadav, over their complaint against some of the officials. The residents had earlier complained about the encroachment of pavements by the street vendors. Gurgaon News
They said that there has been no action against the fruit and vegetable vendors operating on the pavements of Sector 27/28 dividing road. They had raised the complaint in the CM window on April 4. The officials had also closed the case on July 31.
Dr GD Tyagi, joint secretary Resident welfare association (RWA) sector 27, said, “There are over 20 fruit and vegetable vendors who have permanently settled their carts on pavements and they cause inconvenience to commuters and pedestrians.”
“The sector belongs to MCG who is responsible for action but unfortunately it is not happening. An MCG enforcement team carried out a drive against vendors 10 days ago but that was an eyewash. When we click on our ATR, someone else’s ATR opens up,” added Tyagi.
An eminent citizen, PN Singh, informed that the MCG enforcement squad had taken action against the vendors by removing them from the spot but the vendors returned to the spots again. Singh said that he will seek an explanation from the officials who have closed the case without taking any action.
Singh also said that he tried to open the action taken report (ATR) of Sector-27 but he was not able to do it because of a technical glitch.
A resident, Mahender Singh, said that the action by the MCG enforcement team was just an eyewash as the problem is still intact. He said that the encroachment by vendors is causing a lot of discomfort to the vehicles and pedestrians.
YS Gupta, additional municipal commissioner, MCG, said, “Residents can approach the joint commissioner in this regard. If something is wrong, it will be resolved.”
