Acting upon the letter by Federation of Apartment Owners Association (FedAOA) Ghaziabad, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) appointed two of its senior officials VK Singh and Manvendra Singh to look in the matter of encroachment of a four-lane public road by Shipra Mall.
FedAOA President Alok Kumar requested GDA vice chairperson Ritu Maheswari to connect the road to NH-24. Ghaziabad News
Alok said that due to a boundary wall which the mall had constructed, the public road, which connects the parallel NH-24, is being blocked. “Also, the mall claims an area of around 900 sqft which lies between the boundary wall and the service road of NH-24,” he said.
The NH-24 is hardly 100 meters away from the boundary and a service road runs parallel between the boundary and NH24. The road further merges into the national highway.
“I have requested the authorities to procure that area and provide an alternate route to 40,000 residents to get to the NH-24,” Alok said.
“It will make the life much easier for the 40,000 residents of Indirapuram who waste their precious hours in the traffic jam while taking the different route to get to NH-24,” Alok said further.
Alok also said that the road was earlier encroached by the mall and was used as a parking lot to extort money illegally in the name of parking fees.
VK Singh said, “Earlier, the four-lane public road was a part of the green belt given to Shipra on the lease. After some time, we demanded the land back but they denied. We cancelled their lease against which the mall went to the court,” he said.
When City Spidey asked the officials whether they are considering some action to procure the land claimed by the mall, he said that GDA is considering this option. “However, it will be too early to divulge in details,” Singh said when asked to provide details of their consideration.
City Spidey tried to reach the Shipra mall authorities but the calls and messages went unanswered.
