Dwarka: Strollers vulnerable to fall as caved in portions yet to be cordoned off

It had just begun to get dark when RK Singh was on his way to home with his two friends. As soon as he reached near Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology, his leg went into a caved in portion. He lost his balance completely and was about to enter the main drain. His friends somehow saved him from getting serious injuries. Dwarka News

Similarly, on Thursday, a senior citizen of Rashi Apartments fell down and narrowly escaped from going into the caved portion of the main drain which was full of water. However, his mobile phone, Aadhar Card and other documents went into the drain.

Such kinds of incidents have now become very common in Dwarka because of the pathetic condition of roads and the footpaths. The caved in portions of the footpaths have been there without any barricading inviting fatal injuries.

Vice President of Rashi apartments, Sanjeev Kapoor, said, “He is a senior citizen and was returning home around 8.30 pm with his friends. He has lost his important documents and now making efforts to get it again. The situation has become serious this rainy season as the civic bodies do not seem to be serious about the bad condition of roads and footpaths.”

The roads of Dwarka are in bad shape and are worsening day by day. On the other hand, the caved in footpaths are not helping either. The caved in portions in front of the societies like Harsukh Apartments and Satisar Apartments are yet to be barricaded.

A senior citizen and resident of Harsukh Apartments in Sector-7, Ravi Jaitely said, “The service roads and footpaths have become very dangerous in our sector. I am surprised by the casual approach of DDA. They have not cordoned the damaged portion of the footpath over the main drain which is about ten feet deep and full of water.”

The whole city is suffering due to the bad condition of roads and footpaths. Big potholes and cracks can be seen at the major roads near turns and circles. There is no doubt that the condition is tough for the bikers. Cars and other vehicles too are facing a tough time.

The roads are in very bad shape near the signal at Sector-3, Sector-14, Sector-2 and Sector-4. It is also bad near the turn at Youngster Apartments in Sector-6 and Dabri Mor.

At the signal under the Palam Flyover, the condition of the master plan road 201 is beyond worse. Big potholes have been filled with the debris which is making the situation even worse during rains. People are demanding urgent repairing or temporary filling of those potholes.

The chief engineer of DDA, RK Singh, said that he will take the subject into concern and do the needful. He said that the temporary filling of the potholes and the barricading of the caved in footpaths would be done on urgent basis.
