Community donates generously in various Kerala flood relief camps today



Today community members from various societies and sectors donated generously for the cause of helping Kerala flood victims. In various collection camps, hundreds of people donated utensils, clothes, stationery, goods, sanitary pads, food, grains etc. and sent it to the flood affected areas in Kerala. News

A camp was organised at Sector 10, Dwarka by Goonj, an NGO working for rehabilitation of flood victims in Kerala. Coordinator of Goonj’s Dwarka operations and a resident of New Millennium Apartments, Sector 23, Arvind Agrawal told City Spidey, “I want to thank Dwarkaites for the whole-hearted support they have shown to the Goonj collection camp held today for helping Kerala and other states affected by floods. Materials enough to fill two big truck was collected in today's camp. I request other people to also support and contribute to our efforts by either visiting our website, www.goonj.org or our facebook page, www.facebook.com/goonj.org.”

Arvind said that a permanent Goonj centre has been opened in Dwarka for collections for helping Kerala flood victims. “Goonj Dwarka centre is at Kalpavriksh Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Plot No.-66, Sec-12 A, Dwarka, New Delhi, Near Bal Bharati School. One can contact Vineet Kaur on 9535475800 for any queries. The timings for making donations are between 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM except on Monday and Tuesday.”

Residents of Badhwar Apartments, Dayanand Apartments etc. also donated for the cause in the camp organised by Ek Mutthii, another NGO. People of the societies collected grains from each family and gave it to the NGO to send to Kerala. KK Gupta a resident of Badhwar Apartments, said, “We went door to door and collected grains. We also bought biscuits and other such food items, packed them and gave it to Ek Mutthi. They further forwarded the collections to Kerala House.”

Association of Neighbourhood Ladies Get Together (ANHLGT) is also collecting materials from the community at its office in Sector 23, Community Hall of South Delhi Municipal Corporation and forwarding the collections to Kerala House. President of ANHLGT, Cicily Kodiyan said, “Recently our team members transported the collected materials to Kerala House. We will be collecting as much as we can in order to help the affected people in Kerala.”
