The officials from Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) had carried out investigations in the June on the complaint sent by the subdivisional magistrate (SDM) on behalf of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB).

They had ordered to shut down the operations of a plastic recycling plant and also made arrangements to clear the dump.

Local residents have informed that the dumping has again started and the unit has started its operations two days back.

“Permission needs to be taken from the HSPCB for manufacturing or recycling units, but this unit was compressing bottles and sending them to other states. We will visit the site and notify the MCG,” said Jai Bhagwan, regional officer, HSPCB.

“There are numerous such units across Gurugram, with three-four of them in Basai itself. When this is happening everywhere, why am I being targeted? We are not doing anything illegal,” said Arvind Dalal who is the owner of the unit.

The plastic waste management rules, 2016, states that units with compression machines can only be set up in industrial areas.
