RESIDENT SPEAK: Scattered garbage, encroachment mess up Dwarka Sector 10 market

The Sector 10 market in Dwarka is in pathetic condition. Although there are more than eighty dust bins here, a lot of garbage is scattered  all over the place.

Further, it's green area has been encroached upon by eateries and taxi stands.

It’s really astonishing that although the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and private sweepers are found cleaning the market's premises quite often, the garbage refuses to vanish. This is a complete waste of taxpayers’ money.

Further, despite a ban on plastic in the sub-city, I found it lying everywhere in the market. Upon enquiring a bit, I came to know that the market is maintained by both the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and SDMC.

Moreover, although there is only one toilet here, it remains usually closed. When I asked the locals regarding it, I came to know that it has been in this situation for years.

These days both the SDMC and DDA are carrying regular drives against encroachment and unauthorised construction. I hope that both the authorities would take adequate steps to improve the situation of this market also.
