PHOTO KATHA: Residents celebrate Martyrdom Day of Guru Arjan Dev in Dwarka


The residents from sectors in Dwarka celebrated Martyrdom Day of Guru Arjan Dev by distributing foods and beverages to the people in the area. These activities were not only carried out by Sikh community but people from other communities also participated in the celebration.

Thousands of people were served foods and sweetened cold milk at various places in the city. Youths, women, elderly people and children were seen serving foods and beverages to the people.

A large scale “langar and chhabeel” was organized by Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha at Gurudwara Sahib in Sector-11. The residents of Sector-8 distributed foods and beverages near Queens Valley School.

Foods and beverages were served at many other places like at Ashirvad Chowk, Vidyut Chowk, in front of Sadbhavna apartments in Sector-11 and in the markets of Dwarka. Many other societies had also organised programmme on the occasion of the Martyrdom Day.

Large number of Dwarka residents including representatives of various social and religious associations participated to pay their obeisance to the Guru Sahib.

Sardar Arvinder Singh Chatwal, Ex- Secretary, Residents Welfare Association, Sector-8, Dwarka and Vice President of Dwarka Forum said, “On this very day, Guru Arjan Dev ji, sacrificed his life to uphold the fundamental rights of equality, justice, freedom and religion. So, to make people realise such things in the community and to inspire the people with the path of Guru Arjan Devji, such type of programmes were organised. In these programmes, we serve the community selflessly to spread love and harmony.”
