SDMC set to develop CNG crematoriums in Dwarka and Subhash Nagar


The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) signed two MOUs with Power Finance Corporation (PFC) on Wednesday regarding setting up of CNG crematoriums at Dwarka and Subhash Nagar.

The MOU was signed by the Commissioner of SDMC, Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel and CMD, Power Finance Corporation (PFC), Rajiv Sharma.

SDMC mayor Narender Chawla said that the CNG crematoriums will help in controlling pollution. He further added that more and more people have started using these types of crematoriums.

Commissioner of SDMC Dr Puneet said that four crematoriums would be commissioned within one year of signing of the MOU.  

The PFC under its banner of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) will provide a financial assistance of Rs. 455 lakh, to the SDMC.

The project of developing the crematoriums will be completed in two phases.  Under the first phase Rs. 335 lakh will be released for installation of two crematoriums at Dwarka Sector 24 and Subhash Nagar.

Two other crematoriums would be developed under the second phase at a cost of Rs. 120 lakh.

Moreover, another MOU was signed today between the SDMC Commissioner Dr. Goel and MD, Energy Efficiency Services Limited, (EEFL), Saurav Kumar for lighting, sanitation and development of hundred schools of SDMC.  

SDMC Mayor, Narendar Chawla, Chairperson Standing Committee, Shikha Rai, leader of the house Kamaljeet Sehrawat and other senior officers of SDMC were present on the occasion.
